Philip and Scott Badcock, brothers and Columbus natives, purchased Sun Ray Cleaners in June 2014. They are committed to improving the customer experience at Sun Ray while continuing Sun Ray’s long tradition of quality and value. One of the first improvements they made was the installation of a new computerized point of sale system that has made service more efficient.
In 1926, Mr. Herman Spector owned a tailor shop in Ft Benning, Georgia and as World War II neared, he ventured into dry cleaning and laundry as well. Business prospered and in 1947, Mr. Spector retired and his daughter Janis and her husband, Murray Robbins moved to Columbus from New York to take over and grow the business. In 1975 Mr. Robbins’ daughter and her husband, Patricia and Jack Wilensky, moved from New York to Columbus and joined the business. Over the next decade the company continued to grow and added Sun Ray Specialty, a wholesale leather and suede division, and Henri’s Formal Wear, tuxedo rentals.
